Pipe builder overview

Abstract

Use the pipe builder to explore and visualize your data in new and exciting ways.

You can use Varicent ELT to explore and visualize your data in new and exciting ways. A pipe helps clean and transform your data. A pipe builder is a canvas where you use tools to create a series of steps to clean and transform the data. You can then turn it into predictions.

One of the first things you should do is familiarize yourself with the pipe builder.

From the Pipes page, click + Create pipe to start building your pipe. Choose from the following types of pipes:

  • Standard pipe: A fast and efficient pipe suitable for most scenarios. This is the recommended option.

  • Big pipe: A robust pipe suitable for complex or high data volumes.

Tip

A great way to familiarize yourself with the pipe builder is to check out the tutorial. Go to the user drop down menu in the upper right corner and click Tutorial.

Here's an overview of the pipe builder:

  1. Tasks

    The Tasks bar shows tools that aren't configured, or that are invalid. If you don't have any tasks left, your pipe is ready for a build!

    Click this button to add tools to your pipe.

    Tip

    You can also just type the name of a tool to bring up the tool menu.

    Click this button to add Blueprints to your pipe.

  4. Build

    When you finish configuring your pipe, click Build . If there is a machine learning tool in your pipe, such as the predictor, you can build the pipe to calculate the score.

    Tip

    It's a good idea to build your pipe often! This will make sure your pipe builds quickly.

  5. Charts

    Click to create a chart of your pipe. Choose your chart type or visualization.

  6. Multiple users

    The icons show the users that are entering, are present or leaving the pipe page. On the canvas, the pipe tool is highlighted when another user selects a tool. You can also hover over a tool to see all the users currently selecting the tool on the canvas.

  7. Status menu

    Displays the status of your imports, builds, downloads and exports.

  8. Changelog

    See what's new in Varicent ELT with each release.

  9. Username

    This menu contains information about your account, settings, credits, information on Varicent ELT. You can also sign out of Varicent ELT from here.

  10. Help menu

    Access the Varicent ELT Knowledge Base, tutorials, provide feedback or contact a specialist for assistance.

  11. Zoom in or out

    Increase or decrease the size of your canvas.

    Automatically arranges all the components of your pipe to neatly align each one. This button also creates a uniform length for each of your connectors.

    The window zooms in or out so all objects are visible.

    Click this button to add notes to your pipe. Your notes can be customized to insert pictures, formulas, charts, emojis, and a table of contents. You can also export your notes into a PDF. This button can also be used to close or hide the Notes sidebar.

  15. version_history_icon.pngVersion history

    Create pipe versions. With the version history, you can create new pipes from any version, view, restore or delete any versions. For more information, see Pipe version.

  16. Row viewer

    Row Viewer is a visual formatting option, supporting 500-plus columns. For more information, see Row Viewer.
